How to measure PD - Pupilary disance?
What is Pupillary Distance?
Pupillary distance (PD) measures the distance between the centers of your pupils. The average adult’s PD is about 64mm. Usually, your PD will be checked by the specialist who does the eye test for you or later, the dispensing optician who was helping you choose the lenses and frame. However, if it was not given to you, the below 5 steps will help you measure it yourself.

Why Is It Important?
Every set of prescription lenses has an “optical center,” which is determined by pupillary distance.
PD is used to determine where you look through the lens of your glasses and should be as accurate as possible.

How to Measure Your PD with a ruler:
-
Stand about 10 inch away from a mirror.
-
Hold a ruler against your brow.
-
Close your right eye then align the ruler’s 0 mm with the centre of your left pupil.
-
Look straight, then close your left eye and open your right eye.
-
The "mm" line that lines up to the centre of your right pupil is your PD.
Other ways to measure pupilary distance:
- Please stand close to the wall mirror ( about 10 inch ) and use a marker to dot each lens of your glasses right in the centre of the eye pupils. Close your left eye when you make a dot looking at right eye and do the same with other eye. When you have both lenses marked then measure easily the distance between the marked dots. The outcome will be your PD.
- Try to using free online tools. You can google "online PD measure tool " and use one of the available tools in your search ( just click and follow their guide ). You can also download one of the mobile apps which are easy to use and can measure PD with high accuracy. One of the free apps available for android and apple devices and very good in our opinion is ,,GlassesOn''. You can find the app on android or apple store.
Instal the app and follow their guide - always try to take the PD measurement 2 or 3 times and take the average.

- Take a passport style photo when you wear the frame which you will send us for reglazing and we will do the rest.
This way the results are very accurate and we make sure the measurements are correct.
Please use this method when need varifocal or bifocal lenses, because we need to see how to fit these lenses in your frame properly.
To take the passport style photo, please hold the camera in your hand, stand in front of wall hanging mirror at the arm length distance. In natural position look straight at your face in the reflection, place the camera in the middle of your eyes where you see yourself in the mirrorr. Look at into the camera lens and take a shot. Please email the photo on "support@lensomania.co.uk" and we will confirm if it's suitable to take the measurements.
Once it's done - send us the frame.

If you send us glasses with your prescription lenses, then we can take your PD from the lenses.
If you want new varifocal or bifocal lenses, the glasses you will send us needs to have the same kind of lenses to make us able to duplicate the measurements!
Please remember to take the passport style photo and send it us if you have new frame ( without your prescription lenses ).
