What are the benefits of lens coatings?
Why lens coatings are so important?

Lens coatings act as a protective coating for your lenses, transforming modern plastic lenses into strong everyday objects. Unfortunately, lens coatings are often not given the importance they deserve when people purchase a pair of glasses, with wearers pretty much leaving this decision up to the optician. To make sure you’re well-prepared when it comes to choose a coating for your lenses, we’ve put together a guide to help you decide about coatings.

Anti-scratch - Hard Coated Lenses

For plastic lenses (organic lenses) you definitely need a hard coat if you want your lenses to last longer. While plastic lenses are lighter than glass lenses, the material used is softer and more prone to scratches – at least if untreated.

Hard coat increase the durability of your lenses, makes them harder to scratch with everyday use.

Standard Anti-reflection Coating

AR coatings virtually eliminate all reflections from the front and back surfaces of your lenses. Without bothersome reflections, more light is able to pass through your lenses which optimizes your vision.

The aim of anti-reflective coatings has always been to increase the transparency of our lenses to achieve a more natural look and get rid of those ghost reflections whilst improving vision clarity and increasing contrast. Thanks to anti-reflection your lenses become nearly invisible to someone looking at you, also when you take a selfie, you can see your eyes very clearly with no reflections and your glasses are looking more attractive.

Our Mirror Coatings

We offer an extensive range of mirrors available for our sun lens range. Mirrored lenses are often seen as purely a fashion statement, but there is much more to them than that. Mirrored lenses are highly reflective, and reduce the amount of light that enters the eye. Mirrored lenses are excellent for use in conditions with very high intensity light, such as skiing and beach holidays. Many people also prefer the aesthetics of having their eyes concealed behind mirrored lenses. Mirror finish lenses are available with as well with polarised sun lenses. Polarised mirror lenses are particularly popular for mountain and snow sports, where wearers are subjected too high intensity light with various sources of glare.

We recommend anti-reflection coating on the back surface.

The mirror effect depends from the tint. The darker the lens the more mirror efect. Full mirror effect is only visible when the tint is very dark ( 85% light absorbtion ). If you apply a flash mirror coating on a photochromic lens, in conditions when the lens is clear - the flash coating will be nearly invisible. Only when the lens change colour to dark - mirrored efect will be visible.

Our mirror coating are available in : black, blue, bronze, gold, metalic gold, green, silver, metalic silver, purple, pink, red, sapphire and yellow.

All our tinted lenses Include full UV protection.
